It’s probably worth around $12000.00 , but in reality you’ll probably get around five to six thousands out of it. If it’s GIA certified then I’d say $7000.00 . It also depends on the cut, table size etc . If you’ll send me the full details of the diamond, Then I can tell you exactly what’s worth.

I don’t like rings that the stone sticks out too far, is it wierd to want a band with a few stones intead of the traditional ring? Like this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3182280
Also, I don’t want anything expensive that I might lose. I would have a wedding band to go with it, but the wedding band would be plain, no stones or anything.

My hairdresser didn’t want a solitaire that stuck out either, because she said she’d never be able to wear it, since she uses her hands so much. She got a band ring, but had a larger diamond channel set, so it was kind of like an engagement ring with a center stone, but was a single band ring like a wedding band.

Basically, it’s your ring, you can do whatever you’d like with it. The important thing to remember is what the ring symbolizes, not what it looks like. If you like it, and you’re comfortable with it, then that’s really all that matters!

Congrats and good luck!

I have found a setting that I really love and it is for an emerald cut diamond or gemstone. Where would be a place I could contact and get the exact stone I am looking for?

I want a colored stone. I really would like something that is a light green or something almost diamond looking. (Don’t wanna pay the money for a diamond)

It is okay if the stone isn’t very valuable, I just don’t want it to be junk.

Any place that can give me the color and cut I want? Could I send the setting there and have them create my ring?

THANKS!

Just search for "loose stones" online
If you want a unique, diamond look. I’d go for a white sapphire. They are becoming more and more rare. You can get a .6-.9 carat, really good quality white sapphire for about $200-300
Or you could get moissanite

but for a light green gem. Peridot maybe? Really you should go for something that’s hard. So it will last. The top hard stones that come to mind are diamond, moissanite (you can get different colors), CZ ( even a jeweler can’t tell the difference between a high quality CZ and a diamond without using a loupe), or sapphire. Sapphires are pretty tough, so that would be my top choice for an engagement ring.

anyway, after you order the stone you want, you just take it to any jewelery store to have it set in your setting. That service should take about 30 dollars

I found my setting before I got my stone too :)
Originally I thought about moissantie, but its too sparkly for my taste, so I’m going with CZ from zaimond.com.
I don’t care what’s on my finger, I just want people to know I’m engaged, lol. Of course I also don’t want strangers to know its a fake, so I’m getting a really nice CZ. Zaimond sells very good quality ones.
My fiance and I are both college students. So the $40 CZ stone has its appeal. Later on after we’ve been working for a bit I will consider popping out the CZ and putting in a diamond. Really though, I don’t care too much so I probably won’t.

I never knew this would be SO complicated!

We just got engaged and are searching for a ring now. Initially I liked the emerald cut, but it was missing some ummph. The princess and radiants have bling, but I see too many of them on everybody else. I just saw some nice looking Asscher Cut rings that appear classy, yet stand out because of the unique design. Do you know anything about this particular cut? Have you seen some beautiful Asscher Cut diamond rings personally?
If you know of a good website to purchase Asscher Cut rings please let me know. There are a couple on Ebay that I really like but I want to explore all options before we buy! Thank you so much for your feedback, it’s really helpful.

The ascher cut is one of my favorites when talking about diamonds … it doesn’t give you the "bling" of a round cut, but it is more original that a princess cut. That type of stone is going to run you a little more expensive than the others, just because a nice one is rare, but it is well worth it.

Take a look at www.bluenile.com as they have some fabulous stones!! There customer service is fantastic and the products are superior quality.

The best way to get her the perfect ring is to let her pick it out. She knows exactly what she wants and she might even be willing to cut the budget a little when she actually sees the price tags. It’s not like she is picking out a computer and can choose the components from a catalogue, she has to try on the ring and several rings before she can decide which one is the right one. There are many types of metals, ring designs and diamond cuts to choose from. But, if you still want to choose a ring alone here are some helpful hints.

Engagement Ring Tip #1 Check her out

Pay attention to her and notice what she likes. When choosing and engagement ring make sure you get something that matches what she likes.

What type of metal jewelry and rings does she wear now? Most women have a clear-cut preference. If she loves yellow gold, don’t even look at a diamond or other stone mounted in a platinum or white gold setting.
What jewelry style does she wear now? Is it modern-looking, with bold styling? Does she prefer vintage style engagement rings? Or would you say that the jewelry she wears is classic, resembling those timeless pieces that never go out of style?
The best hint about her tastes is the jewelry she wears all the time, not items she only wears occasionally, because it’s the jewelry that she wears everyday that she is most comfortable with.

Engagement Ring Hint #2 Has she dropped any hints?
Women have mastered the sweet science of subtlety (sometimes), but especially when they want something. Has she ever mentioned her favorite jewelry styles or pointed out engagement rings when you’re shopping together? If not, take her shopping. It isn’t difficult to steer yourselves towards the jewelry stores. If you want to be subtle, say you’re looking for a new watch, but be sure to pause at the engagement ring counters.
Maybe she has a friend who recently became engaged. Does she like her friend’s engagement ring? Why or why not?
Does she like diamonds? Some women don’t. Sapphires and rubies are both durable gemstones that are often set into engagement rings for women who don’t like to wear diamonds.
We hope these hints have been helpful, and we would love to answer any of your engagement ring questions. For more information and our phone number please visit www.engagement-rings.com.au

what is a good emerald cut diamond?

by admin on July 28, 2009

what measurements make a 3 carat emerald cut diamond ideal

diamond Quality is based on 4 factors, these are cut, carat weight, clatiry and colour. You have already said that your diamond is a 3 carat emerald shape, so that takes care of two of the quality indicators. However, the eveness with which the facets are cut is also important.

Since the size and shape are known, you will be most interested in the clarity/inclusions (or quality of the stone) and the colour (a range from colourless through white to yellow). These are discussed in detail below.

As for "ideal", for most people there is a balance between what they can afford and a reasonable level of quality. I have always recommended a high quality retail stone as having a colour around "H" and clarity around VS2 – Even though these are far from "perfect" the faults will hardly be noticable to naked eye to the general public.

On another note, if someone gave me a 3ct emerald cut diamond, I’d just say thanks! and smile a great deal – Any 3 ct diamond is enormous. I have a goregous 1.2 ct diamond and that is huge!!

Oh you might also like to look at this link. It shows the Specification Range for Ideal to Very Fine Cut
http://www.sunjewelry.com/diamond-education-emerald.html
(which on reflection is what I think you were asking for all along – sorry about the waffle!

Cut – What is the proportion of the diamond? Round brilliant diamonds are commonly cut with 58 facets. The better proportioned these facets are on the diamond, the more light will be reflected back to the viewer’s eye. This is extremely important. When cut properly, the diamond will sparkle more. Diamond cuts are measured by the table percentage, so always ask for it. A good table percentage is between 55-60%. Cut also refers to the shape such as: round, pear, and oval. (and in your case, emerald)

Carat – How big is the diamond? Larger diamonds often cost more per carat due to their size. There are 100 points to a carat. Hence a 50 point diamond is 1/2 a carat. (There are 5 carats to a gram.)

Clarity – How clear is the stone? Clarity ranges from flawless (perfect) to I (included). Here is a chart:
Flawless: perfect inside and out
Internally Flawless: may have minor blemishes on the outside
VVS1, VVS2: have very very small inclusions. VVS1 inclusions can only be seen through the pavilion. VVS2 inclusions are more visible.
VS1, VS2: have very small inclusions. VS1 inclusions are harder to see than VS2.
SI1, SI2, SI3: have small inclusions
I1, I2, I3: have inclusions visible to the naked eye

Color: Diamond colors generally range from D – X for white and yellow diamonds. D is the whitest. Around S they become "Fancy" yellow Diamonds. One can also find green, pink, red, blue and brown diamonds – though these are usually irradiated.

Recently, my boyfriend of 2 years told me that he was looking at engagement rings for me. I wasn’t phased by this because we had been talking about getting married for a while. So, I told hime that I didn’t want a princess or marquis cut ring. I explained that 3 of my friends had a marquis cut, and that everyone else I knew who was engaged had a princess cut. He asked what cut I would like, and I told him that I would prefer to have a emerald cut. I also told him that I would love whatever he bought for me. Was I wrong in telling him what kind of ring I didn’t want, since there are still so many options to choose from?

I would like my gf to tell me what she wants, as long as I can afford it. So if there’s no monetory prob, u probably did the right thing, cuz by giving that ring to u , he wud feel that it made u happy, and that wud make him happy. But that’s just me :)
